Probes

All CMA probes and guides are consumables guaranteed for single use only. We recommend 1 per animal/implantation site.

Some researchers do however have success reusing the probes. It is up to the user if they would like to attempt additional uses.

If doing so we recommend flushing the probe with DI water at a higher flow rate (i.e. 8 - 10 uL/min) for several hours post use and storing in DI water to help prevent salt crystal formation. Salt crystals will obstruct flow through the probe. Also, it is good practice to run the probe through an in vitro calibration test between uses to requalify the probe performance. With each use of the probe the membrane becomes less and less functional.

Guides

The guides are not reusable. To recover the guides would require the user to successfully remove the guide from the dental cement/skull without breaking, which would be very difficult to accomplish.
